Online job-hunting in the middle east

Albawaba.com reports that online recruitment in Saudi Arabia is starting to take off. Edward Musiak, head of a large internet-based recruitment outfit in the Kingdom, says that his clients "received in excess of two hundred thousand job applications for their Saudi vacancies resulting in hundreds of hires”.

We have a similar situation here in Dubai, where senior professionals wanting a change in lifestyle (and weather) are increasingly turning to the internet in order to find out more about life in the UAE, both in and out of the office. If this applies to you, then please feel free to contact me in my professional capacity at exec-appointments. Having done it myself, I can give you a good idea of what's in store!

I am interested in seeing first hand what Dubai has to offer re lifestyle change.
My experience is over 15 years business development and change management consulting
What is a good time to visit Dubai, for how long and can interviews be arranged at short notice while there?

At the moment the Consulting and Banking industries are very busy with new opportunities in good supply.

Many of the Top Tier Management Consultancies are opening offices in Dubai & the UAE - a testament to how quickly the industry is growing out here at the moment.

In regard to a job search out here, to start from scratch, based in Dubai, I would allow at least two or three months. This would allow you to time to apprecitate the culture here, and arrange meetings/interviews with recruitment agencies and corporates - meetings at short notice are rarely possible.

My advice would be:

-Do your research before you come out.
-Try to visit between November and May as they tend to be the busiest months from a business perspective (October - February are the best months weather-wise).
-Arrange meetings in advance so you have several during your stay (but allow yourself enough time to see the country).

I hope this helps, good luck with your search!

I am planning to move to Dubai and started to look for a job on the internet two weeks ago and applied to a number of jobs and sent resume to many companies. However, I haven't received any response yet. I have over 8 years experience in Software development, Master's and Bachelor's degree in IT and software engineering and currently living in Australia.
I would appreciate it if you can give me some suggestions on what I can do to find a job in Dubai and give me some ideas on how long should I usually wait to have a response.
